Should You Talk to the Police?

One of the most common questions people ask me is “what do I say to the police when they speak to me?” Thankfully in Canada, you have the right to remain silent.

Sometimes the police will try to trick you into saying something to them. They may say “we are just trying to get to the bottom of this”. Be wary that they may be able to use the information you provide to them against you. You may not know what may help the police mount a case against you. That is why it is important to contact a lawyer to give you advice on what your rights are in relation to giving a statement to the police. Call me for more information.
